Wandering around

Yesterday I went to Guerra Paint to get some supplies. An amazing store. Rows and rows of beautiful colors in little bottles. I wanted to buy one of each. I’ve been using their paint on my BIG painting. I still can’t get used to acrylics, but at the store they gave me a demonstration and some advice. I think it will be easier/better when I get back to it.

The store is on East 13th Street so I wandered past where we lived at First Avenue.  I looked at the names on the intercom.  Rivers still has his studio on the top floor.  Some floors had new windows.  Otherwise it was pretty much the same.

The Lower East Side has changed and not changed.  There are some very fancy, renovated buildings and some still falling down.  I hear the rents have gone way up.

About leyaevelyn

About thirty years ago, I moved from New York City to rural Nova Scotia. For an artist, it is a good place to live. Spacious and quiet. Despite the beautiful scenery and frequently grey skies, my abstract paintings focus on color, its expressive qualities and how it creates form and space.
