Pix from beautiful Denmark

My first morning in Denmark, Thora, the gallery owner, took me to where they make cheese

and butter. When my children were young, we used to make butter by putting heavy cream in a jar. They would shake it until the cream became butter. Here they use big machines that shake the cream.

The first day was spent mostly catching up on sleep.  After that there were trips to the beach

and to the woods

Denmark has some of the most beautiful scenery. It is mainly a very flat country, gently rolling landscapes sculpted with rows of trees and fields of wheat and barley. I find the windmills against the big sky very elegant, stately.

About leyaevelyn

About thirty years ago, I moved from New York City to rural Nova Scotia. For an artist, it is a good place to live. Spacious and quiet. Despite the beautiful scenery and frequently grey skies, my abstract paintings focus on color, its expressive qualities and how it creates form and space.
